Certificate Summary

Security professionals often find themselves dealing with situations in which a security control or policy is violated, but an actual breach has not occurred. This self-paced immersive training course seeks to help learners answer the following questions: 1) How do you define a security incident? 2) How do you prevent an incident from becoming a breach? 3) How can security incidents be leveraged as an opportunity to improve your organizations' security posture?

By bringing together key definitions of incident management and demonstrating through real-world examples you will learn how to determine that an event has become an incident, quickly and effectively respond to incidents to eliminate the immediate threat, and develop strategies and solutions to ensure that similar incidents do not continue to plague your organization in the future.

This certificate includes the following five (5) modules: 1) What is an Incident? 2) Elements of Incident Response 3) Responding Efficiently 4) Root Case Analysis and Prevention 5) Proactive Incident Management and the Future of Incident Management.

How This Certificate Works

This certificate takes you through five (5) scenarios where you will assume various roles and will be asked to make critical decisions involved in protecting your organization. Instructional videos, activities, knowledge checks, perspectives from the field and additional resources with examples are provided throughout the course to help guide you and to support the course learning objectives. Each module includes an on-the-job activity for you to complete to apply the concepts from the course. All learning components in each module must be completed before advancing to the next module.

At the end of the certificate, you will be asked to take a final assessment. Please note that you must score 70% or higher on the final assessment and complete the course evaluation prior to receiving a certificate of completion and earning five (5) continuing professional education (CPE) credits.

CPE Reporting

CPE credits earned for this course may be eligible for continuing professional education credits for non-ISC2 certifications. Please visit the continuing education requirements established by the credentialing organization for eligibility.

Members: Starting January 1st, 2022, CPE Credits for ISC2 credentials will be reported by Member Services on the 1st of every month. Please allow 10 business days for processing. Courses completed prior to 1/1/2022 will need to be self-reported by members and associates through the ISC2 CPE Portal accessible via www.isc2.org using your member login credentials.
